Tokyo noise poppers Cattle have delivered their first EP ‘Somehow Hear Songs’ (available now through Jigsaw Records). Unlike much of Japan’s shoegaze bands, this EP is sung in English. Of course, the lyrics aren’t generally a deal-breaker for many fans of the genre, but it’s an interesting change even so! Cattle produce a buzz saw noise pop sound, not too far removed from Ringo Deathstarr (who are readying their new record). There’s a bunch of other Japanese releases worth a mention, these tips come courtesy of Matthew from Muso Japan; Looprider‘s debut album ‘My Electric Fantasy’, and a the highly recommended full length from Suichuu Zukan. For more, catch Matthew’s hour-long Asian shoegaze radio show ‘Muso Asia’ on DKFM or mixcloud.
