Vallens – ‘Devour’

Vallens - Devour

‘Devour’ is a smoky slice of dream pop that would sound at home on the Twin Peaks soundtrack. After all, the band take their name from David Lynch’s Dorothy Vallens (Blue Velvet). The song is lifted from Vallens‘ debut full length ‘Consent’ (out now through Hand Drawn Dracula). The Toronto foursome worked with producer Josh Korody (Beliefs) on the album, as well as Jeff Berner (of Psychic TV). Stream in full below…

Here’s an exclusive stream of Lust‘s new single ‘Home’, taken from their upcoming split release with Siamese’ ‘I Dive’! Lust are a Toronto shoegaze outfit who delivered their much-loved debut last July, a hard-hitting blend of punk, post-hardcore and shoegaze. ‘Home’ is an ear bleeder that pulls at the heart strings with wall of sound guitars and raw intensity! Australia’s Siamese deliver a lo-fi rocker with psych leanings in ‘I Dive’. Pick up the split release from April 21 via Adelaide’s Swirl Records.

Toronto dream popper’s Memoryhouse independently released their new album ‘Soft Hate’ this month, and posted a full album stream on Youtube this week (as below). The duo (Evan Abeele & Denise Nouvion) haven’t completely reinvented themselves since 2012’s ‘The Slideshow Effect’ but there’s a distinct shift towards more upbeat, new wave and synth pop sounds. This keeps momentum going (even at their most dreamy)! Pick it up here.

Soft Wounds have shared two songs from their forthcoming debut album, take a listen to the first public track ‘Baby Blue’. The Toronto foursome first got our attention with their 2014 demo, so it’ll be exciting to hear what they deliver with the full length. ‘Baby Blue’ is a fun reverb rocker with a garage feel, inspired by their shared love of the ‘gazey greats! Soft Wounds self-titled album will be available from January 31 via Bandcamp.
