To The Wedding – ‘Silver Currents’

To The Wedding‘s latest EP ‘Silver Currents‘ has barely been out a month but it’s already been praised by The Wild Honey Pie, DKFM, Crack In The Road and NME. The beauty of songs like ‘Come On’ and ‘Silver Currents’ places the EP among the year’s best dream pop releases. Multi-instrumentalist Lauren Grubb translates simple melodies into a rich, cinematic atmosphere (for fans of Memoryhouse, Echo Lake and Still Corners). It’s the second offering from the Californian since 2010, now we need a full length!

To The Wedding – ‘Set Fire’ [Premiere]

It’s a pleasure to present ‘Set Fire’, the latest song from To The Wedding‘s upcoming ‘Silver Currents’ EP, out October 28 (pre-sale here). It’s the solo moniker of San Francisco’s Lauren Grubb, who first turned heads with the ‘Taken‘ EP back in 2010. ‘Set Fire’ is a cinematic rocker that sits somewhere between shoegaze and post rock. Lauren’s smoky vocals are a haunting contrast to the death marching wall of noise behind her – huge tune! It arrives following the lead track ‘Come On‘ and points towards an impressive EP. Good news is, there’s already a second EP slated for early 2015. (Photo courtesy of Olivia Lee)

To The Wedding – ‘Come On’

to-the-wedding-silver-currents-artwork

To The Wedding is the moniker of singer/songwriter Lauren Grubb. The San Francisco-based artist recently posted ‘Come On’ (via The Wild Honey Pie) from her forthcoming debut LP ‘Silver Currents’. It’s a sedate stunner that will sit well with fans of Mazzy Star or Memoryhouse. In fact, To The Wedding covered Mazzy’s ‘Take Everything’ on the earlier EP ‘Taken’. As the saying goes, “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” and when you can do it as well as Lauren does, who cares!? Amazing voice. ‘Silver Currents’ is available from October 28 (pre-sale).
