Black City Lights – ‘Offering’

BLACK CITY LIGHTS - 'ANOTHER LIFE'

New Zealand’s Black City Lights released their debut album ‘Another Life‘ this week via Stars And Letters. The duo pair the striking vocals of Julia Catherine Parr with Calum Robb’s dark electronic pop production (comparable to contemporaries Zola Jesus and Austra). Its been over a year since we first had a listen to their debut EP ‘Parallels‘, since that time Black City Lights have been working hard – ‘Another Life’ is a testament to that. The Wellington-natives will tour California next month – dates here.

GPSYMTH – ‘Hamilton’

Despite the carnage Sally has been causing in New York this week, Brooklyn-based label Stars & Letters have still released GPSYMTH‘s debut album ‘Ripostes’. GPSYMTH (pronounced Gypsy Moth) is the alias of 20 year old producer Peter Quinn. ‘Ripostes’ has had a complete overhaul since being self-released earlier in the year, take a listen to the ambient opener ‘Hamilton’.

Black City Lights – ‘Get Away’

Fans of Teen Daze, Zola Jesus, Balam Acab (insert downbeat electro artist here) should check out the debut EP from Black City Lights. The Wellington natives have released ‘Parallels’ via fresh New York imprint Stars & Letters. Black City Lights keep it dark, progressive and cinematic – take a listen to the EP cut ‘Get Away’.
