Hibou – ‘Dissolve’

This week Stereogum dished the news of Hibou‘s debut full length (‘Hibou’ is out September 18 via Barsuk Records). It kicks off with the fantastic single ‘Dissolve’. The Seattle-based solo act (Peter Michel) has been crafting jangle pop (meets dream pop) for several years now, last releasing his ‘Dunes’ EP back in 2013. Hibou’s latest echoes his Craft Spells origins and points to an exciting LP.

Order the digital now, or pre-order the cassette. Pictures of the cassette itself will be up in 3 days. ‘Rainbow Party’ is a 2 track EP consisting of the previously released on Neon Sigh track ‘Rainbow Party’ and an unreleased track from the ‘Space Age’ sessions called ‘Tour’ Also contains a 20 minute feedback improv by Brenan and Miguel called ‘Space Walk no. 9′ Art by Matt Smith. Craft Spells – ‘Breaking The Angle Against The Tide’

CRAFT SPELLS - 'NAUSEA'

Craft Spells are giving away the first single from their forthcoming album ‘Nausea’ (out June 10 via Captured Tracks). The Californian jangle poppers are sounding a little more like their earlier work, only with some added production flourishes (like the strings we hear in ‘Breaking The Angle Against The Tide’). Lead man Justin Paul Vallesteros has been honing his song writing powers over the past five years and Craft Spells latest is a good indication of that. While the 2012 ‘Gallery’ EP was fun, it fell short of expectation after their much loved debut ‘Idle Labor’, fingers crossed ‘Nausea’ is another step forward.

VibraGun – ‘Send Me To Dream’

VIBRAGUN - 'VIBRAGUN'

VibraGun channel the fuzzy force of 80s and 90s rock royalty like Swervedriver, Catherine Wheel and Curve. Not surprisingly, there’s a mild English flavour to the Seattle-based outfit. After forming in 2011, the band spent eight months with producer Evan Foster to craft their self-titled debut record. Album opener ‘Send Me To Dream‘ is a heady rock anthem, with stadium ready riffs and the attitude to match! Stream or download the rest here.

Hibou – ‘Motion’

HIBOU - 'MOTION'

Fresh Seattle dream pop from Hibou’s new EP ‘Dunes’ (available now). The solo project of former Craft Spells drummer Peter Michel follows in the steps of lo-fi, jangly pop contemporaries like Beach Fossils, Minks, Blouse and DIIV.
