LSD and the Search for God – ‘(I Don’t Think That We Should) Take It Slow’ [Premiere]

lsd and the search for god-heaven is a place

Super excited to share the first public stream of ‘(I Don’t Think That We Should) Take It Slow’, an all new song and video by LSD and the Search for God! The San Francisco collective are set to release their second EP ‘Heaven Is A Place’ via Deep Space Recordings (digital / vinyl) on January 15. It’s the long awaited follow-up to their 2008 self-titled debut, and follows the lead single ‘Heaven’. After listening through the five track EP, I think it’s a big step forward. ‘(I Don’t Think That We Should) Take It Slow’ is a testament to how their sound has evolved since the addition of Ricky Maymi (Brian Jonestown Massacre) and Ryan Lescure (Moonbeams / My Red Dress). This time round it’s a swoony blend of stadium psych and shoegaze, with hooky guy/girl vocals and loads of depth. I know you’re all going to love this one; only about ten days ‘til launch.

Some Gorgeous Accident – ‘Winter Evergreen’ EP

some gorgeous accident-winter evergreen ep

San Francisco’s Dale Marquez has released a beautiful EP called ‘Winter Evergreen‘ (under his moniker Some Gorgeous Accident). The four track collection features some guest artists, including Dale’s wife on vocals. The recording is dedicated to his daughter Eve, so the EP is very much a family affair. This may be the perfect way to put some “christmas music” on the boombox without having to dust off Mariah Carey. Wonderful work!

LSD And The Search For God – ‘Heaven’

lsd and the search for god-heaven is a place

The much-loved LSD & The Search For God will deliver their new five track EP ‘Heaven Is A Place’ on January 15 via Deep Space Recordings. The good news is, after nine years we almost have new music! The bad news is, the colour vinyl pre-orders are already sold out. So be snappy if you want to pick up a first pressing (details here). Since the release of their debut EP (posted below to freshen your memory), the band have added new members Ricky Maymi (Brian Jonestown Massacre) and Ryan Lescure (Moonbeams / My Red Dress), and have toured with The Telescopes, A Place To Bury Strangers and appeared at Austin Psych Fest (among others). The San Francisco space rockers posted ‘Heaven’ about a year ago, so the wait can’t end quick enough, from what I’ve heard, it’ll be worth it.

There’s Talk – ‘In Your Hands’

there's talk-in your hands

‘In Your Hands’ is a delicate song that has the power to pause your brain for five minutes! This hazy lofi tune is new from San Francisco’s There’s Talk. The trio will deliver their second EP next year, their first “proper” band release since blossoming from Olivia Lee’s solo project. Here’s hoping the rest of the EP turns out to be as hypnotizing as this song. Love how the final few minutes close out. If you’re in the Oakland area, catch the single release show on November 20 at Starline Social Club (with Yassou and Lila Rose).

San Fran psych outfit Sleepy Sun has spawned a new side project called Fine Points. Guitarists Matt Holliman and Evan Reiss give us ‘Astral Season’, a beautiful single (and video) that transports their psych origins into a dreamier space, with strong vocal harmonies and a (now, rarely heard) guitar solo! Fine Points release their debut LP ‘Hover’ on July 17 via Dine Alone Records.

The Bilinda Butchers are back! The San Fran trio have covered ‘Sentimental Girl’s Violent Joke’ by Number Girl, and it’s out now via their own label Zoom Lens. The dream house track features guest vocalist Smany who continues The Bilinda Butchers Japanese-flavoured sound (in unpredictable fashion)! Always great, and always full of character. It’s the first new music from The Bilinda Butchers since their 2014 LP ‘Heaven’, and arrives following their North American tour with Craft Spells.
