The Blessed Isles – ‘Caroline’

There’s been several calls for The Blessed Isles to be added to our ‘Shoegaze & Dream Pop Albums On The Radar‘ list. Their ‘Straining Hard Against the Strength of Night’ album has been added, plus I’m posting the lead tune ‘Caroline’ and the album stream. The Brooklyn duo (Aaron Closson and Nolan Thies) spent five years working on the release; a mix of new wave, dream pop and electronic sounds. There’s still some limited vinyl left here, along with digital downloads (available now via Saint Marie).

Here’s an exclusive listen to ‘Wrapped In Plastic’, the debut album from Blindness. It’s out today (on digital, disc and vinyl) through Saint Marie Records. The London-based trio craft relentless ass kickers with industrial swagger and noise rock intensity! Lead tracks ‘Confessions’ and ‘Serves Me Right’ are a testament to that. The group features veteran guitarist Debbie Smith (formerly of Curve, Echobelly and Snowpony), together with bassist Emma Quick and programmer/singer Beth Rettig. Brits can catch the album launch this Sunday (details at FB).

On August 28 Static Daydream serve up their debut, self-titled album via Moon Sounds Records / Saint Marie Records (pre-order). Take a listen to the album cut ‘Until You’re Mine’, a dense squall of noise rockin’ chaos! For the uninitiated, Static Daydream is the work of Paul Baker (formerly of Skywave / Ceremony) together with his partner Jamie Casey, and collaborator Jake Reid (of Screen Vinyl Image).

Echodrone – ‘Five’

echodrone-five-artwork

Echodrone have posted a fresh video for ‘Glacial Place’, taken from their latest album ‘Five’ (out now through Saint Marie Records). The San Francisco shoegazers have expanded their sound, adding three new members to the founding duo (of Eugene Suh and Brandon Dudley). The ten track release has been praised by the Big Takeover, DKFM, Louder Than War, Step On Mag and Arctic Drones. ‘Five’ was recorded remotely, with members sharing their parts via Dropbox before landing in the mix engineer’s lap. It’s a monster effort, stream it in full below or grab a copy here.
