Your Friends Polymers – ‘V Chuzhoi Strane’

Russian shoegazers Your Friends Polymers released their new EP ‘v chuzhoi strane’ a couple weeks back with the opener ‘Bees’. The band formed in 2013 as a duo before expanding into a four piece for their 2015 debut EP ‘Chudesa’. Their latest is an eclectic collection of unpredictable tunes, with dynamic textures and progressive melodies. It’s an impressive effort for a group that has only been playing together for a few years. Stream in full below…

Wind Along The Coast – ‘Don’t Look Back / Another Life’

Wind Along The Coast return with ‘Don’t Look Back / Another Life’; two progressive rockers with a catchy twee edge (download here). ‘Don’t Look Back’ is an upbeat noise popper whereas the b-side is a woozy epic, running almost eight minutes. The Russian trio has a handful of EPs under their belt, and since forming in 2013 have played shows alongside their native shoegazers Aerofall.

Life On Venus – ‘Distant Lights’

The ultra-talented Life On Venus have crafted a brilliant two track demo called ‘Distant Lights’ featuring ‘Kingdom Of The Day’ and ‘There Will Be Blood’. The four piece tracked it at Moscow University and it sounds amazing. Russia continues to dish up superb dream pop – it must be the weather!

Pinkshinyultrablast – ‘Grandfeathered’

pinkshinyultrablast-grandfeathered

‘Grandfeathered’, the latest album from Pinkshinyultrablast is now officially in our hands (thanks to Club AC30). The Russian quintet follow up ‘Everything Else Matters’ with a pummeling collection of densely layered dream pop, wall of sound shoegaze and post rock crescendos. The ethereal onslaught pushes to the brink! The ambitious compositions are full of right angles and unexpected break-downs that keep it from getting bogged down in its own mass. ‘Grandfeathered’ delivers the same fanfare that made Pinkshiny’s debut so memorable, only this time round it’s a harder and heavier beast!

Pinkshinyultrablast – ‘The Cherry Pit’ [Video]

Saint-Petersburg’s Pinkshinyultrablast give us their latest LP ‘Grandfeathered’ on February 26 via Club AC30! It’s a swift follow-up to last year’s stellar debut album, and may even top that effort. I’ve just had a first listen to the record and it’s full of massive tunes; epic, bold and very LOUD. You may have heard Pinkshiny’s single ‘The Cherry Pit’ before… but now you can see it…

Pinkshinyultrablast – ‘The Cherry Pit’

Pinkshinyultrablast deliver their epic new single ‘The Cherry Pit’ which contrasts crushing walls of sound with ethereal dream pop. The Russian quintet are sounding as epic and explosive as ever. The ‘Cherry Pit’ follows the lead single ‘Kiddy Pool Dreams’, both taken from their sophomore album ‘Grandfeathered’ (out via Club AC30 on February 26). The new album is expected to be far more diverse and experimental than their debut. Singer Lyubov noted that “hardcore, metal and afrobeat” were influences. I’m not sure what’s around the corner for the Pinkshiny’s but I imagine it’ll be an exciting record either way.
