The Megaphonic Thrift – ‘Få meg til verden i tide’

The Megaphonic Thrift have delivered their new record ‘Få meg til verden i tide’ (out now through Old Flame Records). For the first time the Norwegian space rockers are singing in their native tongue, and they’re sounding dreamier than ever! In fact, their rock edge has made way for an 80s synth pop sound (but I’m liking the change). Check out the lead tunes below (or steam in full at Spotify).

Parading – ‘Jungle Songs’

parading-jungle-songs

Parading share their love for “Galaxie 500-cum-Mary Chain pop” on their second full length ‘Jungle Songs’ (out now through Lost And Lonesome). The Melbourne four piece cover loads of noisy ground; from psych-tinged rockers to Sonic Youth sounding slow burners. Fellow label mate Alana West (Hideous Towns) also lends her backing vocals to a number of tracks. It’s an impressive listen with a Paul Kelly cover in there too. Thumbs up!

Soviet Soviet – ‘Endless Beauty’

‘Endless Beauty’ is a bold post-punk tune with loads of ‘verb and dark edges. The Italian trio absolutely nail it! This widescreen anthem marks the beginning of Soviet Soviet‘s sophomore album campaign. ‘Endless’ is set to land on December 2 via Felte (pre-order here). *hits repeat*

Light Fantastic – ‘Something Like Love’

‘Something Like Love’ kicks off Light Fantastic‘s campaign for their debut long player ‘Out Of View’ (available October 7). The reverb heavy, psych-tinged rocker is 100% sunshine. The San Francisco-based collective worked with engineer and guitarist Rex Shelverton (of Tamaryn) for the album. Light Fantastic bridge surf rock with dream pop n’ jangle. Most importantly, there’s great songwriting courtesy of Terry Sowers and his twangy Rickenbacker.

True Widow – ‘O.O.T.P.V.’

true-widow-AVVOLGERE

The doom rock of True Widow returns this month with their latest album ‘AVVOLGERE’ (out through Relapse on September 23). The Texan sludgegazers serve up another heavy hitter in ‘O.O.T.P.V.’, which follows the lead single ‘Theurgist’. It’s good to have them back, I often return to my all-time fave True Widow tune; ‘Skull Eyes‘.

Neaux – ‘Make Me Stay’

neaux-fell off the deep end

Former VersaEmerge singer Sierra Kay has joined forces with guitarist Nick Fit (of Loss Leader / Trash Talk), bassist Ryan Briggs (Have Heart) and drummer Chris Peters. The four piece (Neaux) have posted ‘Make Me Stay’, a cut from their upcoming album ‘Fell Off The Deep End’ (due September 16 through Iron Pier). It’s a broody rock tune with plenty of hooks. I’ve had a super quick listen to the album this week and it’s full of droney, reverb-centric alt rockers; one to watch.
