Rancho Relaxo – 'I Want You'

I’m not going to attempt a Simpsons joke, though it’s hard to resist! Norways’s Rancho Relaxo have released their new record ‘Happy Friday Experiment’ featuring the lo-fi psych opener ‘I Want You’. The dredging groove of ‘I Want You’ will win fans of the Brian Jonestown Massacre or anyone else that likes their tunes drugged out and noisy!

Inca Gold – 'Atom'

Inca Gold‘s brand of psychedelic pop marries swooning vocal melodies with abstract synthesis. The hypnotic new single ‘Atom’ is a sedate experience, without the noisy guitar tones that often appear in their work. The London quartet release their third EP, ‘Inca Gold III’ on February 20 before a run of dates in their hometown.

Grandparents – ‘Arrows’

‘Arrows’ is a brilliant track, plain and simple. Its the kind of melody that could be reworked into a completely different genre and still sound fantastic. Of course, the psychedelic 60s approach is perfect as it is. Portland’s Grandparents are sounding decidedly hi-fi on their latest lo-fi EP ‘Fumes’. Swirling guitars, live drums, warm reverb and harmonies fit for a hippy spaghetti western! The only thing wrong with this release is that it isn’t a full length album.
