Echo Lake – ‘Dröm’

echo-lake-album-launch

The world needs more epic intros, ‘Dröm’ provides! It’s the second taste from Echo Lake‘s sophomore album ‘Era’, out March 2 via No Pain In Pop (pre-sale). The London-based band show their experimental side on this track, which opens up into a cascading psych pop feel with hypnotic, overlapping vocals. It follows the lead single ‘Waves’ (video below) and has me counting the days til ‘Era’ lands.

Darkly – ‘Animated Space Debris’

Darkly returns with ‘Animated Space Debris’ (free download) our first listen from his third album ‘Becoming Dangerfield’ (out this August). The Swedish solo artist (Johannes Göthager) is known for his work with Edweena. Sadly the Stockholm shoegaze trio disbanded early this year following the passing of band member Magnus Thelin. However Darkly’s sound maintains the same strong vocal melodies only with a more subtle approach. Lovely work!

Introducing Austin trio Southern Boutique, formed from the ashes of Tiger Waves. Apparently a change can do the world of good because these tunes are very impressive. It’s like Brian Wilson and John Lennon holed up together, sailing off into the sunset! ‘Undercurrents‘ (free download) is a psych pop oddity waiting to be poured over, with stellar production washed in warm reverb. Check out more of Southern Boutique at Soundcloud. Brilliant.
