Pink Playground – 'Take A Walk'

Hmm… little late posting this – Texan duo Pink Playground‘s ‘Take A Walk’ from their split release with Circle Hour, out now via Beko (digital here). The Houston-based shoegazers released their last LP via Mexican Summer in 2011, the lo-fi fave ‘Destination Ecstasy’.

Pink Playground – 'Dark Bloom'

Houston’s ridiculously loud shoegaze band Pink Playground, released ‘Destination Ecstasy’ last week via Mexican Summer. The eight track album features the smokey song ‘Dark Bloom’ along with a bunch of material originally released on harder to find EPs.

‘Dark Bloom’ has a lot going on. Guitars overlap, playing seemingly different melodies and rhythms as the vocals get pushed into the background. Harkening back to the 80s, there’s dissonant synths and lo-fi delay throughout the record. You’ll either love it or loathe it.

Pink Playground – ‘Sunny Skies’

Swirly drones, feedback and bent melodies married to catchy but elusive vocals… that’s Pink Playground in a crude nutshell! ‘Sunny Skies’ is one example, where pitch and composition somehow get left behind.

The Texan band are releasing an 8 track album ‘Destination Ecstasy’ which gathers together bits and pieces from previous Pink Playground EP’s and mashes them together. Available from Mexican Summer on September 27.
