Nothing – ‘Curse Of The Sun’ [VIDEO]

Wanna see Domenic Palermo get hit in the face with a firecracker? You’re in the right place! Nothing have posted their latest music video for ‘Curse Of The Sun’ which features a whole bunch of mental live footage. It was filmed in May by Jimmy Hubbard during shows at New York, Washington DC and Philadelphia. The four piece are just about to hit Europe for a string of tour dates (see ’em here). I just gave ‘Tired Of Tomorrow’ another spin on my way to work this morning (after a few months break); such a great record. Stream in full below.

Suburban Living – ‘Come True’

Philadelphia’s Suburban Living has announced their sophomore album ‘Almost Paradise’ with the lead single ‘Come True’. The four piece have signed with 6131 Records and will release the LP on October 7. ‘Come True’ extends their lo-fi bedroom pop sound with the help of producer Jeff Ziegler (The War On Drugs, Kurt Vile, Nothing). This should please fans of their 2015 debut, and earn them some new ones.

DAODA – ‘Shields’

daoda-shields

DAODA is a Philly solo project (by way of New York) that continues to drip feed impressive dream pop, case in point ‘Shields’. It’s a stalking tune that reminds me a little of The Cure; sitting unevenly between new wave and post punk. DAODA (pronounced “day oh duh”) has amassed a healthy Soundcloud following over the past few years due to his quality output. No word on an official long player as yet.

Nothing – ‘Tired Of Tomorrow’

Just in case you needed a reminder – Nothing’s new album ‘Tired Of Tomorrow’ is out this week via Relapse Records (May 13)! The whole thing can be streamed now via NPR. The Philly rock act has also posted a bunch of updates to their documentary series (as below). In fact, I think it’s fair to say that the promo machine is in overdrive with an online Nothing meme creator, Nothing Emojis, plus 15 tattoo shops are offering Nothing-themed tats on release day! I’m planning on having the “N” logo tattooed on my child’s forehead to mark the occasion. *grins* But seriously, the album stream is sounding solid. They’ve balanced the hard hitters with dreamy laid-back tracks that give the record much needed depth. Now judge for yourself…

Nothing – ‘Vertigo Flowers’

‘Vertigo Flowers’ is our first listen to Nothing‘s forthcoming album ‘Tired Of Tomorrow’ (out May 13 via Relapse Records). It’s a catchy rocker built to please, and indeed it does! The vocals are more upbeat, less breathy, with a more positive tone than ‘Guilty Of Everything’. It will be interesting to hear whether the Philly foursome shake off the ‘shoegaze’ tag on this album. Perhaps so. Pre-orders (in pretty much any format you can think of!) are available right here. To accompany the album, there’s also a six-part “making of” documentary series on the way, the trailer is below. If that’s not enough, Upset Magazine recently posted a live clip of ‘Vertigo Flowers’ and ‘Eaten By Worms’ (check that out here).
