The Stargazer Lilies – ‘Summer’s Gone’ [VIDEO]

Last month The Stargazer Lilies gave us ‘When With You’ and today they share a new song and video called ‘Summer’s Gone’ (via Brooklyn Vegan). It’s a more sedate tune this time round, ideal for late night listens. It’s taken from their ‘Door To The Sun’ LP (out June 3 via Graveface). Meanwhile the Pennsylvanian shoegaze trio are about to hit the road for an epic USA tour (see the dates here).

Youth In Bloom – ‘Feed My Dreams’ (Demo)

6131 Records are reissuing ‘Shell’, the debut EP by Youth In Bloom (Vinyl / Cassette / Digital). The Pennsylvania shoegaze outfit included a pair of new demos on the cassette version, including this woozy monster called ‘Feed My Dreams’ (as premiered by Stereogum). It sounds like Youth In Bloom’s follow up is going to be loads of fun!

Title Fight – ‘Your Pain Is Mine Now’

There’s been loads of internet chatter surrounding Title Fight‘s new singles ‘Chlorine’ and ‘Rose Of Sharon’. The Pennsylvania four piece have given their post-hardcore sound a boost of reverb and tremolo, leaving many fans scratching their heads. Are they shoegaze now? Well no, but Title Fight are continuing down the path that Nothing’s ‘Guilty Of Everything’ blazed last year and (I imagine) they won’t be the last band to do so in 2015. Having said that, their new track ‘Your Pain Is Mine Now’ is something entirely different (and my preferred song of the three unveiled so far). It’s a gem. ‘Hyperview’ is shaping up to be an interesting (and divisive) album, pre-order via Anti (out February 3).

Youth In Bloom – ‘Shell’

Following the March single release of ‘Crescent Waves’, Youth In Bloom return with the five track EP ‘Shell‘. The Williamsport, Pennsylvania foursome aren’t afraid to take risks and show their versatility, from the disembodied shoegaze chaos of ‘Dismantle’ to the progressive, dream pop epic of ‘Shrouded’. If Youth In Bloom continue to grow (excuse the pun), we’ll be in for something special by the time they’re ready for a debut full length.

Dragon Turtle – ‘Beard’ [Premiere]

To celebrate the release of Dragon Turtle‘s second album ‘Distances‘, we’re premiering the new single ‘Beard’! If you’re a fan of brooding atmospherics, slow moving soundscapes and loads of reverb then you’re in for a treat. The band is a collaboration between New York’s Brian Lightbody and Pennsylvania’s Tom Asselin (formerly of Strand of Oaks, Lewis & Clarke). ‘Beard’ is a full meal in just one song, a brilliant slow burner. The opening lament winds into an instrumental wash over seven plus minutes. It was inspired by Walt Whitman’s presence in Ric Burns’ New York documentary. Despite the mournful tone, it’s all about the highs of city life.

On another note, last week the ‘Summer Drive’ video dropped over at Pure Volume, it’s a ghostly beauty – check it out below. As the PR states, “it fits somewhere in a scene from a spookier John Hughes film about a teenage drive around town, an aimless escape to the sounds of a Nebraska-era Springsteen guitar meeting a baroque pop version of The Jesus and Mary Chain.” It also reminds me a little of The National, only darker (didn’t think that was possible). ‘Distances’ is available via Oscillating Color from August 12, get in quick for the limited clear vinyl (shop).

Pennsylvania’s Matthew Zedolik has delivered a new album of instrumental shoegaze called ‘Wild Shores’. The lo-fi charm comes courtesy of Matt’s basement recording studio! Expect some hypnotic experimental tunes, surf pop and a lot of spacey sounds. ‘Wild Shores’ is out now via Bandcamp. ‘Sundancer’ is a real treat…
