Oyama – ‘The Right Amount’

Oyama‘s debut album ‘Coolboy‘ has been keeping my sound system company lately, take a listen to the album track ‘The Right Amount’. The November release is more subtle than their 2013 EP ‘I Wanna‘, this time round the frenetic noise poppers are replaced by more reflective and melodic songs. Needless to say, the Reykjavík five piece are a marvelous listen. ‘Coolboy’ is out now via 12 Tónar/Imperial Records.

ASTROATTACK

Here’s an energetic slice of noise pop to round off your week! ‘Twilight’ is taken from AstroAttack‘s debut self-titled album, released late last year via Death Tape (iTunes). The Japanese four piece have been crafting overblown sounds since 2008 but re-invented themselves a few years ago before getting to work on the LP. Hyogo locals can catch AstroAttack this Sunday at Kobe Slope.

Joanna Gruesome – ‘Sugarcrush’

JOANNA GRUESOME - 'SUGARCRUSH'

Late last week Joanna Gruesome and Yuck released the second singles from their forthcoming LP’s (listen to Yuck’s ‘Middle Sea’ here). Both releases are sounding strong. Joanna Gruesome’s debut record is due next month through Slumberland (USA) and Fotuna Pop! (EU). ‘Sugarcrush’ follows the lead single ‘Secret Surprise’, this time round the Cardiff noise pop group deliver sweet vocal lines between explosions of raw punk energy! It builds to a cacophony of blistering beats and dissonant chords, like it can’t contain itself any longer.
