Echo Lake – ‘Even The Blind’

Echo Lake have announced their debut record ‘Wild Peace’ will land on June 25 (EU – No Pain In Pop) and June 26 (US – Slumberland Records). The ominous submarine-toned introduction of ‘Even The Blind’ takes a quick right turn before breaking into a widescreen indie pop jam. Its obvious the London duo have spent some coin in the studio this time round. The light and airy verses crash into fleshy choruses, with a wash of guitars springing from the edges. A far less obscured sound than 2011’s debut EP ‘Young Silence’.

Echo Lake released an impressive debut EP in February called ‘Young Silence’. I was already on board after hearing the title track, regardless of its rough production work. But in the months since Echo Lake has gone a little more pop and a little more fancy. Now we have the ‘Another Day / Breathe Deep’ single which shows even more signs that some solid songwriting is ready to break out.

‘Another Day’ shows off Linda Jarvis’ pretty vocals, a wash of guitars and loads of harmonies. Since their debut Echo Lake have begun to find their feet stylistically and the songs have kept rolling. That’s amongst a busy tour schedule as well, Brits will get to catch them on the road this month (details on the Echo Lake website).

You can buy Echo Lake stuff from the No Pain In Pop store.
