Dear Tracks – ‘Aligning With The Sun’

dear tracks-aligning with the sun

Native Sound will release Dear Tracks ‘Aligning With The Sun’ on 7inch this month (order here). The Michigan duo (Matt Messore and Victoria Ovenden) released their stellar ‘Soft Dreams’ EP earlier this year and this is a fitting follow-up. A dreamy jangle popper with multi-layered melodies, they keep getting better!

Drowse – ‘Memory’

memory-bed-drowse

Portland’s Kyle Bates (aka Drowse) releases his three track EP ‘Memory Bed’ this week via Native Sound. The hushed collection was inspired by Grouper, Mount Eerie, Velvet Cacoon, and Unwound (which makes a whole lot of sense when you listen to ‘Memory’). Bates is a talented songwriter, recently co-writing two tracks for Miserable’s ‘Uncontrollable’ LP. ‘Memory’ is an intimate and moody listen; it’s under your skin music for late night listening.

Plastic Flowers – ‘Mary (Del)’

plastic-flowers-heavenly

The Native Sound (one of our much loved New York labels) has dished up two brilliant singles; Miserable’s ‘Violet’ and Plastic Flowers’ ‘Mary (Del)’. The latter is led by multi-instrumentalist George Samaras who creates beautiful soundscapes and delicate dream pop that’s been praised by the BBC. ‘Mary (Del)’ is taken from Plastic Flowers new record ‘Heavenly’ (out April 22). Meanwhile San Francisco’s Miserable (aka Kristina Esfandiari) is back with ‘Violet’ (this follows the lead tune ‘Oven’ that went public a few weeks back). I think its safe to say that Kristina has really hit her stride, her debut LP ‘Uncontrollable’ is sounding special, it’s available from April 29.

Miserable – ‘Oven’

miserable-uncontrollable

Kristina Esfandiari returns as Miserable and announces her new album ‘Uncontrollable’ with the lead tune ‘Oven’ (via Noisey). The Bay Area singer is known for her work with King Woman and also as Whirr’s former vocalist. ‘Oven’ is lyrically bleak but features beautiful vocal harmonies and a spacious arrangement. One to bliss out to! ‘Uncontrollable’ will be available from April 29, pre-order at Native Sound.

Funeral Advantage – ‘Body Is Dead’

funeral advantage-body is dead

The Native Sound has released the debut long player by Funeral Advantage. ‘Body Is Dead’ doesn’t sound very sunny, and it isn’t! But… it is an underrated record (a blend of jangle and dream pop) that’s worth a listen. Funeral Advantage is the work of Boston’s Tyler Kershaw, who has steadily released EPs and splits for the past few years. Pick up the vinyl here, recommended for fans of The Radio Dept or The Mary Onettes.

Threading – ‘Never’

threading-You-Are-Never-Enough

Threading‘s new EP ‘You Are Never Enough’ will be in our hands on September 18 (thanks to Native Sound). The Michigan foursome are sounding as vital as ever on their latest public track ‘Never’ (via Substream). A mix of shoegaze, slowcore (and perhaps post-hardcore if you wanna get specific). ‘Never’ carries a gut wrenching weight, the kind that makes for awesome EPs! Looking forward to this one.
