Curve – 'Horror Head' (Mint Julep Remix)

Mint Julep have released a remix of Curve‘s classic single ‘Horror Head‘ from their album ‘Doppelgänger’ released back in ’92. Perhaps this was planned to be unveiled on Halloween but just missed the boat? Mint Julep are a Portland-based dream pop duo, releasing their last LP ‘Save Your Season‘ in 2011.

Hollie had this to say about ‘Horror Head’, “Curve was one of my favorite bands as a kid, and Keith, who I introduced their music to several years ago, agrees with me that this is one of their best songs. I can’t think of any other female fronted band that has impressed and inspired me so much. I saw Curve in concert a couple times, many years ago, and was completely blown away and if I could, I’d trade seeing them again for a thousand live shows of any other bands of choice. They were that good. I hope this cover helps to introduce other music fans to Curve’s music.”

Helios – ‘Nothing It Can’

As far as free albums go, Helios‘ ‘Moiety’ is a no brainer (download here – donate if you can)! ‘Nothing It Can’ is a stunning ambient piece, largely instrumental with vocals as an instrument rather than a voice. Its a visceral listen with cinematic scope. Helios began more than a decade ago when composer Keith Kenniff started recording his electronic excursions. Since then Keith has composed music for film and television, released work under the moniker Goldmund, as well as being one half of Mint Julep. Nice resume Keith… and thanks for the freebie!

Mint Julep – ‘Cherry Radio’

Mint Julep have released their new album ‘Save Your Season’ via Village Green featuring the single ‘Why Don’t We’ and the album cut ‘Cherry Radio’. The husband and wife duo (Hollie and Keith Kenniff) produce ambient pop tunes with plenty of polish, straight from their home studio in Portland, Oregon. ‘Cherry Radio’ is very radio friendly, perhaps one of Mint Julep’s most commercial creations to date. However the later half gets much darker as the thick guitar lines take over.
