Gorgeous Bully – ‘Nobody Hates You’ (Demo)

Lo-fi rockers Gorgeous Bully have been working their asses off over the past twelve months, so much so that it’s hard to know what to listen to! For newcomers, I’d recommend getting stuck into their ‘Smiling, Laughing‘ LP from last October which pieces together a whole bunch of tunes into one (pay what you want) album. Last month the Manchester four piece (lead by Thomas Crang) released the fresh single ‘Love Song For Someone Else‘ and just this week, the free demo cut of ‘Nobody Hates You‘ (originally released on the EP ‘NHYAMAYHY‘ via Art Is Hard). See, I told you – lots going on, but lots to love!

Omega Vague – ‘The Long Way’

Manchester shoegaze project Omega Vague delivered the ‘Eidolon’ EP this week featuring the opener ‘The Long Way’ (download). It’s the work of solo multi-instrumentalist Craig Douglas, who hasn’t wasted any time since releasing a self-titled album in February. ‘The Long Way’ is a cinematic slow burner with shades of 80s dream pop that reaches for epic heights a la M83! Ghost Outfit – ‘Killuhs’

‘I Want You To Destroy Me’, the new album from Ghost Outfit is available for pre-order (out June 24 via Sways Records). The lead track ‘Killuhs’ is a clash of angular guitars, post punk vocals, relentless drums and plenty of noise! The British duo first made waves a few years back after posting a new tune each week on their Tumblr page.

The Louche FC – 'Romantic'

This is the best sounding Football Club I’ve heard all year! If only all sport sounded this good. Alas, The Louche FC are a Manchester band that project waves of textured noise with bittersweet melodies and fuzzy guitar tones. The Louche FC manage to combine wistful indie pop with abrasive noise rock that edges towards shoegaze. The result is somewhere in between, but the delivery of their songwriting wins out.

‘Romantic’ brings to mind The Smiths, not in sound but the way the vocals are phrased (same home town, so it makes sense)! Salford based indie label Sways Records are releasing The Louche FC’s new 7-inch ‘Romantic’ on November 28 featuring the B-side ‘Rain and Thunder, Love Take Me Under’. There’s even limited edition blue vinyl – preorder here!

The Louche FC’s debut single ‘Back Bedroom Casualty’ was released back in February and is available for free download here. The b-side is a scratchy 60s surf pop number called ‘Only In A Dream’, its arguably more accessible than ‘Back Bedroom Casualty’ and perhaps could’ve served them better as a lead single. But who cares, they’re both good tunes. I imagine Sways Records will package these singles into an EP before long. I hope they do.
