Purs – ‘Girl In Love’

purs-girls-in-love

‘Girl In Love’ is a fun shoegaze/punk/psych crossover tune; courtesy of North London’s Purs (as premiered by Silent Radio). The group formed from the solo work of guitarist Andy Becker, who is joined by Serra Petale (guitar/vocals), Kris Proshovski (guitar), Mattias Bhatt (drums), and Mandi Goodier on bass. Purs made their first appearance on the ‘Hide And Psych’ comp with a cover of Autolux’s ‘Here Comes Everybody’; also worth a listen. Blak Hand Records are hitting the The Independent Label Market at Old Spitalfields Markets this weekend with a handful of limited transparent tapes – get involved Londoners! \m/

Boys – ‘Off To New York City’

Introducing the jangle pop styling of Boys; a London-based four piece. ‘Off To New York City’ is the second public track from their debut EP. Clash premiered the first tune ‘Nice Guys’ which was well received last month. It’s early days, but I’m liking the laid back feels so far.

Leave The Planet – ‘How Does It Feel’

leave the planet-nowhere-b-sides

Back in March we helped launch Leave The Planet‘s ‘Nowhere’ EP, and last month the British dream pop duo unveiled the b-sides (available here). It’s another solid collection; you’d be forgiven for wondering why they weren’t combined to make an album, they’re that good. It also includes a re-working of their 2014 single ‘Unreleased Life’. It’s awesome to have more from Leave The Planet so soon after ‘Nowhere’, and a timely reminder to check out the EP if you missed it.

Voices From Deep Below – ‘Radiate’

Dale Humphries aka Voices From Deep Below has unleashed his fourth album ‘This Place Will Raise Up’. The British solo artist pushes the boundaries of pitch bending mayhem with wall of sound guitars and sunken vocals! ‘Radiate’ is by no means representative of the whole record, so jump into the full stream below.

Leave The Planet – ‘Nowhere’ [EP Premiere]

leave-the-planet-nowhere

Nathalie Bruno and Jack Milwaukee formed Leave The Planet with a shared love of Slowdive, Felt and early Sarah Records acts. The East Londoners named themselves after a Galaxie 500 song and went on to release an impressive demo (selected by Fat Records), and several singles through Kanine Records. ‘Nowhere’ marks their first EP and features some stunning songs recorded over the past few years. The pair don’t overstate themselves, it’s a gentle and progressive EP that’s delivered with confidence. The combination of classic synths, drum machine and plenty of washed-out guitars makes for a late 80s synth pop sound, most evident on ‘Sirius B’ and ‘White Astra’, while ‘Surrender’ mixes it up with a new wave/jangle pop sound. ‘Seashore’ stretches their abilities again, proving that Leave The Planet are capable of carrying themselves into less structured territory, this (almost six minute song) is perhaps the hidden highlight. ‘Nowhere’ is one of the finest dream pop debuts I’ve heard in a while, highly recommended listening! Pick it up via Weiner Records from March 28 (pre-order).
