Gorgeous Bully – ‘Nobody Hates You’ (Demo)

gorgeous-bully-art

Lo-fi rockers Gorgeous Bully have been working their asses off over the past twelve months, so much so that it’s hard to know what to listen to! For newcomers, I’d recommend getting stuck into their ‘Smiling, Laughing‘ LP from last October which pieces together a whole bunch of tunes into one (pay what you want) album. Last month the Manchester four piece (lead by Thomas Crang) released the fresh single ‘Love Song For Someone Else‘ and just this week, the free demo cut of ‘Nobody Hates You‘ (originally released on the EP ‘NHYAMAYHY‘ via Art Is Hard). See, I told you – lots going on, but lots to love!

Dead Mellotron – ‘Winter 2014’

dead-mellotron

Baltimore shoegazers Dead Mellotron have returned with a fresh five track EP called ‘Winter 2014‘. It’s been almost two years since their last release ‘(is it)‘. The four piece have been fairly quiet since announcing their split, thankfully that didn’t last too long! There were a few shows and a cassette release following the departure of drummer Zach, along with the song ‘Birthday‘ (which oddly or not, doesn’t appear on the new EP). ‘Winter 2014′ is a warm n’ lo-fi affair with dreamy jangle poppers that soon get stuck in your head. Another welcome return.

Balms – ‘Balms’ EP

San Francisco’s Balms delivered their debut EP this month (grab it here). The trio kick it off with the single ‘Golden Hair’, for lovers of lo-fi rock n’ jangle pop. The floaty harmonies of ‘See You’ are another stand out. It caps off a busy year for Balms, after playing shows alongside Canyons, Vibragun, The Foreign Resort, Blackstone Rngrs, Dissolve, Moonbell and Couches.

Foxes In Fiction – ‘Ontario Gothic’

Orchid Tapes has delivered the second album from Foxes In Fiction, download ‘Ontario Gothic’ here! It’s the work of New York-based artist Warren Hildebrand, who creates beautiful lo-fi pop songs. It’s a very emotional, introverted collection, written following the passing of Warren’s younger brother. It should appeal to dream pop fans however there are some experimental tunes on there too. The title track and ‘Shadow’s Song’ are brilliant!
