Dråpe – ‘Round And Around’

drape-relax-relapse

In October Dråpe gave us their second full length ‘Relax/Relapse’ via Norwegian label Riot Factory, and recently premiered a 60s-styled video for ‘Round And Around’ (via Konbini). The quintet have evolved immensely since forming in 2010, and have faced more changes recently with the departure of Hanne (singer), and the return of Eirik (keys/guitar). I do miss the bendy days of their debut, and Hanne’s femine touch, but Dråpe’s brand of trippy psych pop is always refreshing (especially when recorded on 24 track tape)! ‘Relax/Relapse’ plays out like a sprawling daydream, and it’s catchier than ever. Check out this recent interview with Ja Ja Ja for the full low down.

Dråpe – ‘Pie In The Sky’

Drape-Pie In The Sky

Dråpe have dished up ‘Pie In The Sky’, the first track from album number two! The Norwegian quintet teased us earlier in the year with a tribute tune called ‘Together We Are Pstereo‘, but now we have an official single. ‘Pie In The Sky’ is a catchy psych poppin’ ditty that builds on the transformative ‘Canicular Days’ album of 2013. Riot Factory are releasing Dråpe’s (Drop in English) full length on October 9.

Dråpe – ‘Together We Are Pstereo’

Dråpe return with the new single ‘Together We Are Pstereo’! In case you were wondering, ‘Pstereo’ is not a type-o, it’s one of the biggest festivals in Norway (and was written in its honour). The five piece are currently at work on a new album, and have recently recruited Eirik (of Angelica’s Elegy) following the departure of long-termer Hanne. ‘Together We Are Pstereo’ is a sunny psych pop gem, with sunny melodies that pick up where their 2013 LP ‘Canicular Days‘ left off. Dråpe (pronounced ‘Draw-peh’), can do no wrong! Pick up the single via iTunes.

Dråpe – ‘Dråpe’ EP

drape-drape-ep-artwork

It’s been more than a year since Dråpe delivered their ‘Canicular Days‘ LP but the wait for new material shouldn’t be too much longer. The Oslo five piece have been busy working on a fresh full length (with a single expected before the year is out) *crosses fingers*! If you missed Dråpe’s debut EP back in 2011 then do yourself a favour and jump straight into the stream below. ‘By Heart’ is still brilliant – frequently stuck on repeat!

Dråpe – ‘Sister’s Eye’

DRÅPE - 'SISTER'S EYE'

One of the strongest albums of 2013!? We’re not even half way there but Norway’s Dråpe are going to be a hard act to follow. The shoegaze/dream/psych pop five piece have produced a brilliant debut LP in ‘Canicular Days’ (out now through Riot Factory). If the singles ‘Blue Skies‘ or ‘Memories‘ didn’t convince you – give this album cut a spin and see if it converts you! The summery sweet introduction of ‘Sister’s Eye’ slowly becomes an epic whirlwind. p.s. vinyl internationally delivered via Tiger.

Dråpe – ‘Memories’

DRAPE - 'MEMORIES'

‘Canicula Days’ the debut album from Norway’s Dråpe is out next month (April 18 via Riot Factory). We’ve treated our ears to the first single ‘Blue Skies‘, now dive into the follow up – ‘Memories’. I’ve heard four or five tracks from this record and while I’m not a betting man, I do love to contradict myself – so five bucks says this is one of the strongest dream pop albums of 2013! *puts crystal ball back on shelf* P.s. don’t hold me to the five bucks please.

Dråpe – ‘Memories’

Dråpe: “Memories just happened to come about while we were recording our album and was nicknamed “the dance song”. Someone once said that it’s the perfect song for some good old fashioned linedancing, but yeah – we’ve still to see anything like that at our shows (except when singer and guitarist Ketil gets in the right mood backstage, that is). It’s is a feel-good song, with a sense of fragility lurking just beneath the surface. The song is basically about the waking up a little late on a Sunday and letting your mind fly backwards through last nights ups and downs.”
