Fugleflugten – ‘Aftenpragtstjerne’

AFTENPRAGTSTJERNE

Fugleflugten have unveiled their debut EP ‘Aftenpragtstjerne’, five tracks of reverb-hungry post punk. The Danish quartet sing in their native tongue, and brandish progressive, widescreen rockers with loads of presence. Fugleflugten first turned heads with the emotive lead single ‘Ensom Galakse’. Thankfully, the rest of the EP is equally striking, stream in full below…

Slaughter Beach – ‘Glaze’

slaughter-beach-glaze

‘Glaze’ is an off-kilter mix of dream pop and psych, courtesy of Slaughter Beach. The Danish trio (which features Hasse Mydtskov of The Kissaway Trail), delivered their debut EP ‘Love/Venice’ just last year, and this month the new single via Brilliance. Slaughter Beach has already been lauded by the likes of NME, The Line of Best Fit, Interview Mag and NPR. With all their momentum it’ll be interesting which direction their next release heads; here’s hoping for more hazy jams like this. On first listen they reminded me of the late Tripping Daisy (before Tim went on to start The Polyphonic Spree).

Gliss – ‘Pale Reflections’

Gliss have delivered their fifth full length ‘Pale Reflections’, out now via their own label Kraftwööd. It’s a heady mix of dream pop with twee appeal, drawing comparisons to Beach House and The Raveonettes. The Danish/American duo (Victoria Cecilia and Martin Klingman) have been together for decade and ‘Pale Reflections’ is a testament to their hard work. One of their best.

‘So Long Sun’ sounds like a lost classic, with a chorus fit for the Summer festival circuit. The Copenhagen foursome are releasing this track together with the b-side ‘Love Stands Still’ on Tough Love Records from November 10 (pre-sale). Communions have booked in their first London show on the same day, catch them at Sebright Arms. Love it.
