Mosaicz – ‘Physic’

mosaicz-physic

Mosaicz dropped their latest tune ‘Physic’ earlier this month; a lo-fi wall of noise from their impending EP/LP (expected next year). The Geelong-based trio are a little bit psych, and a little shoegaze. ‘Physic’ is a washed out slow burner, with sunken vocals and a groovy, overblown feel to it. This is the third song Mosaicz have posted since 2015’s epic ‘Backwards’. Pick it up at Bandcamp.

Bloodhounds On My Trail – ‘Haunted Isles’ EP

Moon Sounds Records have delivered the latest EP from Melbourne shoegaze band Bloodhounds On My Trail (get it here)! The ‘Haunted Isles’ EP features the lead tunes ‘Over The Wall’ and the recently public single ‘Places Like This’. The four piece; Johnny Green (guitar, vocals), Chris Donaldson (guitar), Nik Donaldson (drums) and Ché Walden (bass), delivered their last EP ‘Escape II’ in late 2015. ‘Haunted Isles’ is a solid collection that builds on their widescreen moody rock sound. BOMT might be Australia’s contemporary answer to Chapterhouse or Ride; a provocative mix of melody and noise.

Parading – ‘Jungle Songs’

parading-jungle-songs

Parading share their love for “Galaxie 500-cum-Mary Chain pop” on their second full length ‘Jungle Songs’ (out now through Lost And Lonesome). The Melbourne four piece cover loads of noisy ground; from psych-tinged rockers to Sonic Youth sounding slow burners. Fellow label mate Alana West (Hideous Towns) also lends her backing vocals to a number of tracks. It’s an impressive listen with a Paul Kelly cover in there too. Thumbs up!

J. Francis – ‘Last Minute’

After sharing Kigo’s latest album, it only seems right to keep it in the family and post J. Francis‘ newie – ‘Last Minute’. The Queensland-based solo artist has crafted a lovely mood piece, very cinematic. BUT… that ending, what a tease! I want to hear how the next three minutes plays out. *throws toys* Get a copy here.

Kigo – ‘Sunshine’

kigo-sunshine-cover

We knew it was coming but didn’t know when; Kigo released his new album ‘Sunshine‘ this week! The ten track LP features a few of last year’s singles (‘How Can I See’ and ‘Lust Lost’), together with fresh music recorded over the past three years. The Brisbane-based solo artist (Dwayne Pearce) has produced a large amount of work since first popping onto our radar in 2013 with the ‘Guilt’ EP. Kigo’s latest combines the shoegaze monsters he’s known for (‘Everyone Waits’ / ‘Can You’) with some ambient tangents (‘Some Other Place’ / ‘It Is’). ‘Sunshine’ doesn’t pull any punches, it’s an unforgiving collection of dissonant shoegazers, warped textures and sunken earbleeders. There’s some brilliant moments on the album, my fave being the closer ‘Sound And Score’.

Flyying Colours – ‘Mindfullness’

flyying-colours-tour-poster

In case you missed it, Flyying Colours have officially given us their debut full length ‘Mindfullness’ (out now via Club AC30). The Melbourne shoegazers cut their teeth with two solid EPs and a string of local shows (with a UK/European tour about to kick off). The album opener ‘It’s Tomorrow Now’ is a must listen, supported by the second single ‘Long Holiday’ and the title track. Flyying Colours strike a balance between the heights of their debut EP and the rockers of the ‘Roygbiv’ EP. It’s a relentless record that will be a crowd pleaser. With a fresh line-up in place (two new members), and plenty of new material to showcase on the road, the UK tour should be awesome. It’s hard to believe that Flyying Colours’ ‘Wavygravy’ debut was three years ago! *mind blown*
