Austin shoegazers Vet Trip recently delivered their first full length ‘Swimming In Machines‘. It’s a solid debut, so chances are you’re already all over it! The foursome posted the lead single ‘Finland’ back in April and have backed it up with the spacey opener ‘No Smile’, the stormy and dissonant ‘I’m Your Shadow’, as well as the poppier songs ‘Fall Away’ and ‘Sunny Wigs’. Golden Graves – ‘Moon Man’

golden-graves-be-safe

Austin’s Golden Graves have delivered their latest EP ‘Be Safe’ featuring the jangle/surf/shoegazer ‘Moon Man’. It’s the second EP from the foursome since they formed in 2013. Since then Golden Graves have played shows alongside Ringo Deathstarr, Bloody Knives, and some other bands you may (or may not) like! The ‘Be Safe‘ EP sounds very close to a DIIV record at times, but I’m enjoying it regardless. There’s many messy, melodic moments with plenty of charm; ‘Moon Man’ is one of them.

Holy Wave – ‘Freaks Of Nurture’

holy wave-freaks of nurture

Holy Wave return with their third album ‘Freaks Of Nurture’, a confident blend of southern psych, folk and surf rock. The fact that it’s all wrapped in warm reverb is an added bonus! The Austin rockers premiered the album via COS and it’s well worth a listen. ‘Freaks Of Nurture’ is out March 11 via The Reverberation Appreciation Society.

Single Lash – ‘Under’ [Premiere]

single-lash-artwork

Single Lash are hard to pin down, the Austin outfit are part 80s post punk, part 90s gaziness, but always drenched in spacious reverb! The trio features Colin Foster and Neil Lord (of Future Museums), together with front man Nicolas Nadeau (of Slow Pulse). On April 7 they deliver their self-titled album through Mirror Universe Tapes (on digital & cassette). Take a listen to the first public stream of the album cut ‘Under’, which follows ‘Bitemarks’ (as featured on Gimme Tinnitus). It’s shaping up to be a great record!

Tremble Out – ‘The Shore’

tremble-out-based-on-our-situation

Shoegaze and math rock combine on Tremble Out‘s new five track release ‘Based On Our Situation’ (download). It’s a bizarre blend at times, take a listen to the opener ‘The Shore’ which transitions from a downer indie rock feel to frenetic math rock and back again. The idea being that the EP “captures all of the intensity and grandeur of internal daily emotions without leaving out the insecurities of just getting by”. It’s based literally on their situation, and paints a vivid, cerebral picture. There’s some beautiful songs to be discovered in the stream below, impressive work from the Austin foursome.
