Lovesliescrushing – ‘Bloweyelashwish’ [Vinyl Kickstarter]

It’s been more than twenty years since Lovesliescrushing tracked the experimental demos that would become ‘Bloweyelashwish’. Now the seminal recording is being re-issued and re-mastered on vinyl for the first time. The limited run is being supported by a Kickstarter campaign, (get involved here)! If you’re new to the band, take a listen to the stream below. The duo formed in ’91 with guitarist Scott Cortez (Astrobrite) and singer Melissa Arpin-Duimstra. ‘Bloweyelashwish’ is a mix of ambient and abstract shoegaze with loads of lo-fi charm. It’s been criticised for placing more emphasis on sounds than songs, but there’s loads of people who are just fine with that! And as it stands, it’s a much loved shoegaze classic. Anyway, the promo video below is waaaay more interesting than this paragraph, so jump in…

Astrobrite – ‘Deluxer’

Shoegaze veterans Astrobrite posted their new album ‘Deluxer‘ this week, steam it in full below! It’s way too early to pass judgement, but it’s sounding great on first listen. Founded by Chicago’s Scott Cortez in 1994, Astrobrite recently became a trio with the addition of drummer Sarah Sterling, and guitarist/singer Sophie Leigh Nagelberg (of dream/noise pop act Videotape). ‘Deluxer’ is officially out on May 11, coinciding with a Japanese tour stop next month (details).

Astrobrite – 'Silvery And Starless'

Veteran shoegazers Astrobrite recently returned to the stage in Chicago, their first live show in more than ten years! Front man Scott Cortez was joined on stage by previous collaborators Mahogany. Astrobrite also released two tunes ‘Your Radio Body’ and ‘Forgotten Valentine’ digitally last week, but there’s more!

The lo-fi drone of ‘Silvery And Starless’ will be released on ‘All The Stars Will Fall’ via BLVD Records, November 11. The label has been giving Astrobrite lots of love, re-issuing their seminal 2001 album ‘Crush’ with their 2005 full length ‘pinkshinyultrablast’ next in line.
