On February 21, Brooklyn-based rockers Farewell Republic release their debut album ‘Burn The Boats’ featuring ‘Wake’ and ‘Gliss’. After a lengthy production process the young four piece have produced a dynamic monster that frequently indulges in elaborate instrumental breaks. The unique thing about Farewell Republic’s first single ‘Wake’ is that it blends twisted shoegaze noise with earth shaking psych rock and still remains accessible, predominately due to the bold vocals of Sivan Jacobovitz. The album cut ‘Gliss’ shows a different personality altogether, its punk rock jaggedness is interrupted with frantic orchestrations breaking into ambient deep breaths. Farewell Republic’s classical influences are evident, both in song structure and the dramatic piano lines that sneak into play. Production talent helps it all work, thanks to Michael Coffman and Mastering engineer Fred Kevorkian (White Stripes, The National).
