93MillionMilesFromTheSun – 'Drinking Bleach' and 'I Lost You' Sunday 21 October, 2012
There are moments during ‘Drinking Bleach’ where the music verges towards white noise. An experiment in fitting as many frequencies into one song as possible. Perhaps that’s a disservice because 93MillionMilesFromTheSun do push out some glorious noise. The Doncaster shoegazers have once again delivered a solid record in ‘Towards The Light‘, their third LP since 2009. This time round the vocals are rearing out from the mix a little more and there’s more structured songwriting on offer, unlike their previous record ‘Northern Sky’. Along with a leaning towards abrasive noise rock a la A Place To Bury Strangers, perhaps some Death By Audio pedals made their way into the studio?
93MillionMilesFromTheSun – ‘Drinking Bleach’
Released on very limited yellow vinyl, very limited meaning there’s only 200 and that’s it. So… this is either going to be one of those records that everyone hunts for on ebay in the near future. Or… it’ll be so limited that nobody knows it exists. Hmm. Eitherway I figure if this encourages fans to put their hands in their pockets for a physical copy, perhaps for once the little guy will actually be able to cover recording expenses plus some beer money. Fair enough. Turned into a bit of sermon didn’t it? Sorry folks.
