Chicago band Disappears released their second album ‘Guider’ earlier this year on Kranky records featuring the rocking track ‘Halo’. Kranky describes the record as “a heads down, blinders on, damn the distractions, forward driving, controlled squall. Drop the needle, turn up the volume and surrender to the delicious.”

For lovers of post punk, krautrock or blistering rock in general its worth a listen if it flew under your radar! A few interesting facts on Disappears, the vast majority of ‘Guider’ was recorded live in one take. In doing so, Disappears literally recorded over the same tape used for their debut album ‘Lux’.

Secondly, Sonic Youth’s drummer Steve Shelley joined Disappears on their recent European and North American tour… friends in high places! ‘Halo’ is a good example of the energy this band creates – it shimmers, echoes and repeatedly pounds its way into your head.
