Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds – ‘Water’s Edge’ jimmy 11/02/2013 pop The Bad Seeds release their new album ‘Push The Sky Away’ on February 18 via their own imprint (Bad Seed Ltd). Album number fifteen was written during a transitional period, its their first independent release since leaving Mute, its their first without founding guitarist Mick Harvey and its their first since the disbandment of Grinderman. So what’s Nick Cave going to pull out of the hat this time? Another brilliant record apparently. This time round, its more contained, no face blasting rock n’ roll but many of the tracks brood and constantly threaten to explode but don’t. There’s a real tension and urgency in their quietness and restraint, hats off once again. Deluxe copies and ultra, super deluxe versions of ‘Push The Sky Away’ are available here. In related news, Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have recently collaborated on another score, this time for ‘West Of Memphis‘ – in cinemas this week.
