Olan Mill – 'Paths' Tuesday 28 February, 2012

Olan Mill

Stunning instrumental pieces from Olan Mill‘s upcoming record ‘Paths’, available next month via Facture. The experimental neo-classical duo (Alex Smalley and Svitlana Samoylenko) released their debut ‘Pine‘ in 2010, before recording select cuts from ‘Paths’ live in Reading and Bristol. Olan Mill manage to create the impact of an orchestra with only two musicians, though their hooks dig deepest during the quietest moments. As stated in the release notes, the record intended to “physically move an audience as much as it aimed to devastate them emotionally.” Can’t get more honest than that, after hearing ‘Springs’ I say mission accomplished! 300 limited edition copies have been pressed on 180 gram vinyl, with a four panel letter pressed CD, fourteen page booklet, plus more goodies.
