Dear Tracks – ‘Aligning With The Sun’

dear tracks-aligning with the sun

Native Sound will release Dear Tracks ‘Aligning With The Sun’ on 7inch this month (order here). The Michigan duo (Matt Messore and Victoria Ovenden) released their stellar ‘Soft Dreams’ EP earlier this year and this is a fitting follow-up. A dreamy jangle popper with multi-layered melodies, they keep getting better!

Seeing Hands – ‘I Knew You’

seeing hands-i knew you

Introducing British foursome Seeing Hands. Their debut single ‘I Knew You’ is a relaxed blend of jangle pop meets dream pop (as heard on Radio X). The Newcastle natives (which features one of the members of High Tide 15:47), recorded the breezy single at Loft Studios with producers Jack Boyle and John Elliott. More to come.

Castlebeat – ‘Rope’ / ‘Downstairs’

castlebeat-castlebeat

Josh Hwang is Castlebeat, an LA-based student and artist who is very much into the DIY aesthetic; he writes, records and produces everything himself. ‘Downstairs’ and ‘Rope’ is our first taste of Castlebeat’s debut album, which is out next week (July 22 on his own imprint Spirit Goth). I had a listen to the record this week, and it’s a really impressive mix of lo-fi bedroom pop, with loads of dreamy jangly numbers. It’s an unassuming gem of a record. Don’t miss it if you’re a fan of Beach Fossils, Alex G or Wild Nothing.

Doorbells – ‘Distance’

doorbells-distance

‘Distance’ is a spacious tune, with warm reverb and fantastic melodies. It’s the work of Brooklyn solo artist Doorbells, who we haven’t featured since the release of his ‘Ambitions‘ EP early last year. ‘Distance’ doesn’t reinvent the wheel from previous efforts, but who cares? It’s a lovely listen (free download here). No word on an official follow-up release as yet.

Foliage – ‘What The Future Holds’

Foliage-what the future holds

Manuel Joseph Walker (aka Foliage) is a self-confessed purveyor of “dreamy jangly surfy ‘gaze”. The San Bernardino native is only 18 years of age but has already pumped out a heap of music; including last year’s album ‘Truths‘. Foliage is fresh from a west coast tour and has delivered his latest offering ‘What The Future Holds’. It’s a bedroom pop tune that’s packed with pretty harmonies and charming, lo-fi goodness.

Best Friend – ‘Flowers / Always Is’

best friend-flowers-always-is

This week Gezellig Records gives us ‘Flowers / Always Is’, the new single from Best Friend. The foursome is fronted by Nashville’s Peter McCarville who we’ve been a fan of for a very long time now. ‘Flowers’ is a twangy delight, with a live sound and generous ‘verb, the flipside ‘Always Is’ is perhaps the poppier of the two. It’s indulgent and messed up dream pop at its playful best; not sure what those sounds are! Jump in below.
