Jinko Vilova – ‘Last Beat’
There’s nothing complicated about ‘Last Beat’. In fact, it kinda sounds like its sprung from the 70s but it’s damn good, plain and simple. There’s a mix of straight out rock n’ roll, psych and punk on Jinko Vilova’s latest EP ‘Cru’, take a listen to what this Barcelona-based trio can do here.

Washed Out – ‘It All Feels Right’
Take a listen to ‘It All Feels Right’ – the new tune from Georgia’s Ernest Green aka Washed Out. It’s groovy… so grab your headband and sit back. Washed Out’s new album ‘Paracosm’ is out on August 12/13 through Weird World/Sub Pop. This psych pop meets folk single is a world away from the ‘chillwave’ tag he earned with 2011′s ’Within And Without’. Its a brilliant song but I think its fair to say that the psych explosion of 2013 continues to invade indie pop. *gingerly points Tame Impala’s way*

Toy And Natasha Khan – ‘The Bride’
London’s Toy amazed with their psych-rock meets gaze meets kraut rocking debut album last year. Surprisingly, the five piece have taken time out to record a reworked cover of Amir Rassaie’s ‘Aroos Khanom’…. don’t even pretend you know that tune. And if you do, I’m impressed! Anyway, two amazing things happened during this time. First of all, THIS incredible instrument made its way onto tape. And secondly, Natasha Khan (Bat For Lashes) decided to join them on vocals. ‘The Bride’ will be released via Speedy Wunderground on limited 7inch (only 250) – pre-order. Side note, Toy are touring Australia from June 17 – dates here.

Videos from Elephant Stone and Smile
Just back from a long weekend in wine country and feeling rusty. The inbox isn’t very happy and the countless emails with ‘this is a perfect fit for your blog’ followed by a link to some hard house song doesn’t help. Infact, it almost ruins it for those artists who know their audience. Its even tougher for publicists and promotions people trying to do their jobs. However, sometimes an email comes through that just shines through the sh**! So, here it is… I’m cutting and pasting…
SUBJECT: WATCH TITS OR ELEPHANT STONE – IT’S YOUR PICK!
Jimmy,
I have a challenge for you … we have three video links… two are Elephant Stone videos, and one is famous tits. If you click on an Elephant Stone video, you should write about the video. Bassist/sitarist Rishi Dhir heads up this Montreal-based psych-rock act who just wrapped up their tour with The Black Angels. They are fucking rad!
If you get tits… you’re welcome.

Paige – handclaps for sending that through! Turns out I missed out on the tits and went straight to Elephant Stone but was more than happy with the tunes.
In other news, Melbourne-based rock act Smile have sent through word that their debut LP ‘Life Choices’ is expected this August. If you missed their earlier tune ‘Stoned’ check it out. Also, there’s a completely ridiculous (but fantastic) new video out for ‘Sunni Hart/Born Again’ – try and keep a straight face…
Songs – ‘Alone When I’m With You’
Sydney’s Songs released their second record ‘Malabar‘ through Popfrenzy earlier in the year featuring the opening rocker ‘I’m Alone When I’m With You’ (free download). The quartet bust out indie pop tunes with boy/girl vocals and in this case, with some warped guitars backing it up! Speaking of warped, I’ve got no idea what is going on in the video (below) but there is some boobies (NSFW)!

Grand Resort – ‘Night Is Dark’
‘Night Is Dark’ comes courtesy of Brooklyn’s Andrés M. Pichardo aka Grand Resort (free download). This tune dates back to 2012 but since that time the self-confessed lover of ‘jangle pop’ has streamed his debut EP ‘Vanguard Dreams’ over at Soundcloud - take a listen if it flips your eggs.
