Cat’s Eyes performed at London’s Roundhouse a few hours ago (August 22) following the release of their self-titled debut album on Rough Trade/Polydor. Cat’s Eyes is the side project of Italian/Canadian composer (and incredible singer) Rachel Zeffira and the Horrors Brit rocking vocalist Faris Badwan.

During the set Rachel Zeffira treated fans to a few solo numbers, including one very special cover of My Bloody Valentine‘s ‘To Here Knows When’. The 1991 ‘Loveless’ classic has never sounded so… posh! And thanks to the interwebs we are able to hear it (as reported by Pitchfork).

The amazing thing about Rachel Zeffira‘s version of ‘To Here Knows When’ is that its entirely acoustic. She manages to pull off the wavering vocal, the string section mimics the tremolo riding guitar work of Kevin Shields, the piano keeps you hypnotized…you get the drift, it works!

If you’re unfamiliar with My Bloody Valentine’s original, take a listen to their live version recorded in 2008 as part of the Fuji Rock Festival. This is co-incidentally available on ‘The Light Shines Into Your Dream‘ compilation which was posted last week to benefit the Japanese Earthquake relief effort.
