Bryan Webb – 'Undertaker' Sunday 27 November, 2011

I don’t like labelling songs depressing because generally only depressed people will bother to listen. It’s like closing the gate after the horse has bolted and preaching to the choir at the same time. But whatever idiom is used, in the case of Bryan Webb‘s ‘Undertaker’ I can’t hide it, this one’s a real downer! However, in all its gloominess, this is a really pretty tune that’s set to stun.

Canada’s Bryan Webb (also known as Bry Webb) cut his teeth during the 90s playing with indie rockers Shoulder but now fronts The Constantines. ‘Undertaker’ comes from his first solo album ‘Provider’, released this month.

Damn, this song really is dark. Eerie and haunted like a long ride home after the wake of a loved one. Thanks for turning me onto this one.
