C0rrid0rs – ‘Etrangé’
Really interesting work from C0rrid0rs - ’Etrangé’ (free download) comes from a new two track release called ’jouissance//étrangé’ (grab it). The Hackney-based artist deserves due praise – ‘Etrangé’ inventively weaves between electronic/chillwave sounds and trippy guitars but its the layered vocals that’ll get your hairs standing up. Badlands – ‘Sleeping Beauty’
Badlands recently posted their debut single ‘Sleeping Beauty’ but little more is known about the duo. Right or wrong, the dream poppers have been compared to Mazzy Star and Widowspeak. Needless to say its a very strong introduction. More please. Badlands – ‘Sleeping Beauty’ Visit Badlands @ www.badlandsrecord.com @ Soundcloud.
Dark Bells – ‘Wildflower’
This month Tape Club Records released the ‘Wildflower’ 7inch from Dark Bells. The London (by way of Sydney) band are a trio of psych rockers with an awesome sound and a stomach churning video to match! Dark Bells – ‘Wildflower’ Visit Dark Bells @ Tape Club Records @ Facebook.
Cull – ‘Canker’
Cull have released a new dual single – ‘Canker’ and ‘If It Works‘, the indie four piece made their debut in January with ‘Good People Disappear‘ and are currently working on an EP. The guys feel that these tracks are their strongest to date, hard to disagree. ‘Canker’ is unpredictable, its a surprise listen with [...]
Worries – ‘Shy’
This delicate jangly pop tune takes introversion to a new level! From UK solo artist Worries comes the single ‘Shy’ (out now via Beko). For fans of lo-fi bedroom pop a la Bilinda Butchers and Suburban Living. Worries – ‘Shy’ Visit Worries @ Bandcamp @ Soundcloud @ Facebook.
Cheetahs – ‘Fall’
The debut long player from London’s Cheetahs is right up the top of my list of most wanted forthcoming albums. The four piece shoegaze rock act recently released ‘Extended Plays’ through Wichita Recordings which includes both of their first two EPs – ‘Coared’ and ‘Sans’. The new LP is yet to be dated or titled [...]
Whirr – ‘Soon’
San Francisco shoegazers Whirr have jumped over to the Graveface roster with a new EP called ‘Around’ – due early July with the lead track ‘Soon’. The six piece have set their sights on a darker, post-punk influenced sound than their 2012 LP ‘Pipe Dreams’. The more progressive (and arguably more melodic) Whirr are sounding [...]
Loomer – ‘Bolt’
What an intro! Then that amazing guitar tone hits you, followed by honey drenched vocals… yep, I’m a big fan of this tune. Brisbane’s Loomer will re-release their cult record ‘Ceiling’ on vinyl through Lost Race Records (Oz) and Permanent Records (US) on May 30. Only 100 – be quick! Loomer – ‘Bolt’ Visit [...]
Forest – ‘John’
How’s this for marketing – come buy this new record, the vinyl comes in “heavyweight sea blue with a piss yellow haze”! A stroke of punk rock (tongue in cheek) brilliance. Thankfully the Cambridge UK rock act can back it up with top notch songs (as noted on Pitchfork). Forest’s debut EP ‘Sweetcure’ is out [...]
The Sorry Shop – ‘Know Me Right’
Hailing from Rio Grande, Brazil, The Sorry Shop has released ‘Mnemonic Syncretism’ – a very impressive and very free new album! Since forming in 2011 the six piece shoegaze act have produced an EP and two albums, the last being ‘Bloody, Fuzzy, Cozy’. Album cut ‘Know Me Right’ shows off The Sorry Shop’s fuzzy warmth [...]
